This is the only mode that produces a downloadable video with real narration audio, because a synthesized (text-to-speech) voice cannot be captured into a recordable audio track by any mainstream browser — there's no honest way around that, so recording your own voice is what makes real audio+video export possible.
Type & Preview with TTS — type narration text per scene and click "▶ Preview Story" to hear it read aloud live, in sync with the animation, right in your browser. This mode's "Download Video" does not include narration audio (browsers can't capture synthesized speech into a recordable track) — instead it exports a silent video with your narration burned in as on-screen captions, which is still genuinely useful. Ambience is fully synthesized in your browser (Web Audio API oscillators — no audio files, no network) and kept quiet under narration. It's mixed into the exported audio only in Record My Own Voice mode (it plays live during preview either way, but the TTS-mode export stays silent-with-captions, honestly, same as narration).
4K export uses more processing power and may run slower or use more memory on older devices — HD is recommended for most cases.

Everything runs locally in your browser — your story text, any recorded microphone audio, the canvas rendering, and the final exported video all stay on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to a server. The first time you click a mic button, your browser will ask for microphone permission.

Have a full story already written? It's a fast starting point; you can still edit anything afterward.
Write the narration text for a scene in its text box — this is what your story says at that point, whichever narration mode you end up using.
Click "✨ Auto-Suggest" on a scene to scan its narration for keywords (like "school," "village," "dog," "beach," "night") and automatically pick a matching background and characters — you can always change the suggestion afterward.
Or pick manually: click any background thumbnail in the scene's grid to select it, then use the character grids to add up to 2 characters and choose each one's position (left / center / right) from its dropdown.
Choose your narration mode at the top: use 🎙️ Record My Own Voice if you want a downloadable video with real spoken narration — click the mic on each scene and speak; use 🔊 Type & Preview with TTS if you just want to preview the story with a computer voice or export a silent captioned video.
In Record mode, click "🎙️ Record Narration" on a scene, speak, then "⏹ Stop" — play it back right there to check it, and re-record any time before exporting.
In TTS mode, just make sure each scene has narration text typed in — no recording needed.
Toggle "Show captions" per scene if you want the narration text burned onto the video as on-screen text (this is what makes the silent TTS-mode export still useful).
Adjust each scene's duration with the number input if you want a scene to linger longer or move faster — in Record mode it defaults to your recorded clip's real length; in TTS mode it's estimated from how much text you typed (about 150 words per minute, minimum 3 seconds).
Reorder scenes with the ▲ ▼ buttons in each scene's header, or remove a scene with 🗑.
Click "▶ Preview Story" any time to watch the whole animated sequence play in the canvas above before exporting.
Pick HD or 4K next to the export buttons — both stay crisp since every asset is vector artwork, but 4K takes more processing power.

Browsers don't allow a website to capture the audio a text-to-speech voice produces, so a video recorded from typed TTS narration would come out with no sound — we won't ship a fake feature that looks like it works but silently produces a silent file. "Record My Own Voice" captures real microphone audio per scene, which CAN be combined with the video, so use it whenever you want a downloadable video with narration. "Type & Preview with TTS" is for quickly previewing your story with a computer voice in the browser, or for a captions-only silent video — use it for planning and drafting, or if captions alone are enough for your use case.
What video format do I get when I export?
Exports are saved as a .webm video file (the same format used by this site's other browser-based recording tools), built with the standard MediaRecorder API. It plays in all modern browsers and video players, and can be converted to MP4 with free tools if you need that format.
Does exporting a video happen instantly?
No — exporting plays through your whole story in real time (scene by scene) while capturing it, because that's how browser-based canvas capture works. A 90-second story takes roughly 90 seconds to export. Keep the tab open and active while it renders, and you'll see a progress message telling you which scene is currently being recorded.
Is my microphone audio or story content uploaded anywhere?
No — everything runs locally in your browser. Recorded voice audio, your story text, the canvas rendering and the final exported video are all created and kept on your own device; nothing is sent to a server.
Can you make exporting faster, like instant?
Not honestly, no — MediaRecorder capturing a canvas is a real-time recording mechanism, so a 2-minute story takes about 2 minutes to export. Making it instant would require a heavy offline video encoder (like ffmpeg.wasm), which we've deliberately left out as too heavy and unreliable for a free browser tool. Instead we show accurate real-time progress with an estimated time remaining, and trim a little cosmetic overhead during export, so the real wait feels transparent rather than opaque.
Can I paste my whole story instead of writing it scene by scene?
Yes — click "Paste My Full Story…", drop in your entire story, then click "Auto-Build Scenes from My Story." It splits the text into scenes (using paragraph breaks, or sentence groups if it's one big block) and auto-picks a background and characters per scene using the same keyword matching as the per-scene Auto-Suggest button. It's a fast starting point — you can still edit any scene's background, characters, text or duration afterward.
Is there a limit on how many scenes I can add, and can I export in 4K?
There's no hard limit on scenes — add as many as your story needs. Past 25 scenes we show a friendly heads-up that export will take longer and use more memory, but it will still work. For export, choose HD (1920×1080) or 4K (3840×2160) next to the download button; since every background and character is vector artwork (SVG), both resolutions render crisp with no quality loss. 4K uses a higher video bitrate and more processing power, so HD is recommended on older devices.
