How to Create a Strong Password You'll Actually Remember

Most password breaches don't come from someone "hacking" your account in the movie sense — they come from weak, reused, or guessable passwords being tried against thousands of accounts automatically. A few facts worth knowing:

  1. Length matters more than complexity — a 16-character passphrase is generally harder to crack than an 8-character jumble of symbols.
  2. Never reuse passwords across sites — if one site is breached, attackers try the same password everywhere else (called "credential stuffing").
  3. Avoid personal info — birthdays, pet names, and "Password123" are the first things automated tools try.
  4. Use a password manager — it's the only realistic way to have a unique, strong password for every single account without memorizing dozens of them.
  5. Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) wherever it's offered — it stops most account takeovers even if your password does leak.

Need a strong, random password right now? Our free Password Generator creates one entirely offline in your browser — nothing you generate is ever logged, sent, or stored anywhere.
